We all love potato chips - who doesn't crave that salty crunchy snack? We avoid them because they're not exactly the healthiest thing to eat coupled with the fact that they are so dang easy to over eat.
I just came accross this super cool kitchen gadget - the Micro Chip Maker.
Supposedly it makes crunchy, low-fat, potato, carrot, radish, or squash chips with no frying. Plus it's multi-functional and can be used to crisp pitas and steam veggies. Wow! Will it crisp up my dress shirts too?
Sorry to say, it is really not all that exciting. Basically you use this special tray in your microwave instead of deep-frying your chips. Purchase it from the As Seen on TV website for only $7.99.
It's a great idea for making healthier alternatives to potato chips, but it sounds a wee bit silly if you ask me. I can't imagine that any "chip" cooked in a microwave will taste anything like real potato chips.

I had one of those a while back, and it was pretty bad. You have to cut the potato REALLY thin to get it to cook through, and it still wasn't crispy. A big disappointment.
1Thanks for telling it like it is SassyRedhead. That is just the kind of product I would get suckered into buying. The thought of making my own veggie chips sounds so appealing.
2ooooohhh -- I love that -- now if only it worked.
3hmm, it sounds like a waste of money! i just slice up my taters and pop them in the oven to bake. YUMS
4Mandiesoh - That's what I do too, and they're delicious.
5I'm trying to get the man to let me make sweet potatoe fries. He cooks dinner, so it's hard for me to convince him to do new things sometimes.
I think my grandma had one of these! Maybe it was for bacon..anyway, she bought everything like this they sold!
6oh butrfly! those taste sooo good! you really just have to slice em up and pop them in the oven. they already taste sweet naturally, so dont add anything! well, maybe rub some oil/butter at the botton of the tray and thats it! so easy and delish
7cool, mandiesoh...I'm going to the grocery store tonight and I'm going to get some. I'll make 'em my damned self!!
8Sweet Potato Fries...Mmmmm good... I bake them with carrots and regular red potatoes too. I love them all together.
