My backside feels almost dead after sitting on it all day. My favorite way to resuscitate it is walking in my MBTs.
MBT stands for Masai Barefoot Technology. A Swiss company put a lot of research into creating a shoe that imitates what the foot does when it is not wearing a shoe. Twist your mind around that one. I must say their research paid off and they get paid handsomely for each pair of shoes - they retail at $245.

If you can swallow the price the shoes are wonderful. They activate the back of the leg with every step and force the body into alignment. Plus they decrease the stress on your knee joint. As I move up years, further from 20 and closer to 40, my knees appreciate it.
You might have seen them in the Bliss catalog claiming to be the anti-cellulite shoe. But the Swiss makers of the shoes make no claim to this, but the shoes have been proven to increase muscular activity in the legs and glutes.
So the shoes might not be all that pretty to look at, but they turn any walk into a workout, especially if you are headed up an incline.

The shoes have a sensor, or a roll bar, toward the heel of the shoe that make the shoes unstable. By stepping on the bar, rather than hard on your heel (like most us of do), you activate under used muscles that should work like when you are walking barefoot. When wearing the shoes you take smaller strides, stepping onto a slightly bent knee, then pushing off with a straight leg activating your hamstrings and glutes. I do so love that I work my booty with every step.

$245? Damn - I don't think I could spend that much on sneakers, ya know?
2i really really want these, i have wanted them since they first came out. im going to save my pennies

Ok, so I got in my first pair of MBT's this week and I LOVE THEM!!! I wore them around for about 30 minutes the first day and my booty, thighs and calves were screaming! I have worn them every day this week whether walking for exercize or just running errands and I am feelin the muscles workin, even in my back (in a good way:)
4I bought them off ebay, they were still expensive, but a lot cheaper than the original price. But DO YOUR RESEARCH!! These don't fit like your regular athletic shoes. So unless you go into a store to be fitted, you could get the wrong ones.
But they are totally worth it. I guess I'll have to check back in a month or so to let you know if they actually helped with the cellulite
Thanks Fitsugar! This is where I first heard about them!
if you dont mind my asking, what size shoe do you wear and wht size did you get them in? im trying to see what the difference is, as i most likely will be ordering them online

Well they come in Euro sizes, and even so, you will get a half size smaller than what you are used to in athletic shoes. Mostly because, in regular athletic shoes, your toe pushes forward when you walk, but in MBT's your heel slides back, so it is ok for your toes to be almost touching the front of the shoe . . .
6ANNNYway, I usually wear an 8 1/2 Which I think is about a 39 euro, but in these, I ordered a 38 which is about an 8 us. They fit perfect! but like I said, unless I had done my research, I would have thought they were too snug, but once I started walking around, they aren't at all.
hope that helps!
I would like to try these... they aren't that cute but oh well!
7Has anyone heard of RYN Footwear? Looks sort of like MBT but with air! http://www.ryn.ie Where can you buy them in the USA?
8I just wanted to comment that I think that MBT trainers are great. Plus, I didn't pay an arm and a leg for them. They use to be very expensive, as someone else had posted. But now you can find a pair for a little over one hundred bucks. Not bad for all us frugal types. But my experience with the MBT has been great. I feel better.
9The MBT trainers is a perfect partner for all of you that currently have a fitness walking program, or are thinking of beginning one. Walking obviously holds several benefits, but it still produces a lot of where and tear on the body. These shoes work great and make you feel better
