We live in a fast paced society and sometimes it can be really hard to slow down. We also are a snacking culture that has bad habits of eating mindlessly in front of the TV.

I have been trying to meditate everyday...on a piece of chocolate. I eat one square of dark chocolate slowly. I don't chew it and I don't rush it. I sit down and appreciate the chocolate. I savor it. I eat it mindfully. It kind of reminds me of trying to be the last kid with ice cream still in your cone. This is my chocolate meditation. You should try it. It does wonders for eliminating the sweet tooth cravings.

This isn't a new concept by any means. Mindful eating has long been part of the Buddhist tradition and Dr. Dean Ornish made mindful eating a cornerstone to his book Eat More, Weigh Less diet that came out ten years ago.
