We live in a fast paced society and sometimes it can be really hard to slow down. We also are a snacking culture that has bad habits of eating mindlessly in front of the TV.
I have been trying to meditate everyday...on a piece of chocolate. I eat one square of dark chocolate slowly. I don't chew it and I don't rush it. I sit down and appreciate the chocolate. I savor it. I eat it mindfully. It kind of reminds me of trying to be the last kid with ice cream still in your cone. This is my chocolate meditation. You should try it. It does wonders for eliminating the sweet tooth cravings.
This isn't a new concept by any means. Mindful eating has long been part of the Buddhist tradition and Dr. Dean Ornish made mindful eating a cornerstone to his book Eat More, Weigh Less diet that came out ten years ago.

sounds good but I'd never be able to eat just one square. Unless it was one of those Ghirradeli (I know i spelled that wrong) squares.
1I've been trying to do that, but the rich, deep flavor makes it so hard not to gobble it all down! If anything, with all of the new research out there, I try to take in more dark chocolate than any other kind. It's always been my fave anyway
2Dove has the BEST dark chocolate!!!!!!
It is so rich that having one piece seriously is enough and Im a chocoholic!!!! Plus the fact that if you buy a bag all the pieces are individually wrapped helps
3I have actually been trying to do this. Unfortuntaely yhte cocoalte only lasted 2 days...i ate one square the first day...and the other 7 the second!
4this is what i do with my meals too. i eat it slowly and savour the full flavour instead of just gobbling it all up in front of the tv. it makes me feel more satisfied, and less likely to eat more than i need to!
5I used to hate dark chocolate, but became addicted to it about a month ago. I started buying bags of dark kisses, because they are like 25 calories a piece - so they were a great way to end a meal, etc. But, me too, not enough will power to keep them around. (In fact, I ate a fricken Pop-Tart at 200 calories a piece because I missed my chocolate when they were gone! Boo!)
I heard that it needs to be a certain percent cacao for it to be actually healthy - not sure if Hershey's is or not, because it doesn't list the % like some expensive chocolates do, but they list on the package the benefits from their antioxidants.
6Haha cravinsugar, I would do the same thing!!!
7I used to be al about milk chocolate too. But now I love dark chocolte so much that milk chocoalate tastes kinda wimpy. Also dark chocolate staisfies my chocolate craving so much more than milk chocolate.
8Haha when I was little I was ALWAYS the one with ice cream left in my cone. I did it with pudding too!
I love dark chocolate... Dove all the way... it's amazing. I've made a bag last forever. I have one or two a day. : )
9Oh my, when I eat chocolate I'm all whining with pleasure and have NO time to meditate whatsoever!!!
10If you want to meditate on something. Meditate while putting a Xocai chocolate nugget in your mouth and slowly letting it melt. Nothing better in the world. And you are right that the dark chocolate is more satisfying. But Xocai chocolate is cold processed so that all the antioxidant value is left in the chocolate instead of being destroyed. If you eat a piece three times a day, it keeps the antioxidant level up in your bloodstream and rids your body of all of those free radicals............
11Dark chocolate has also just been found to work as a sunscreen too!
Check out http://www.jillschocolate.com and click on my different links. The one about sunscreen is there as are several others.
or email me at kmapres@aol.com if you have any questions on why this chocolate is better than the other ones. gotta go.............going to meditate!!!
