mmmm 4/6
1I didn't think I knew anything about this.. but I got 5/6!
2I am so grossed out about the dairy product answer!!! it makes me sad for all the cows
3i was surprised when the woman at lush told me to only wash my face once a day!
4I actually got everything right. It's true the generally speaking some foods don't actually cause acne, but obviously what someone eats in general will affect how their outside appears.
5Soy milk people!
66/6!
7Oops! 4/6... The refined carbs and dairy... I had no idea!
8But I love milk.
9I got the face washing wrong. I guess it's true that over-washing can be bad, but all I know is I cleanse/tone/moisturize 2-3 times a day and it keeps the baddies at bay!
10ugh i got most of these right and i still break out all the time!!!
11I know a lot about acne, but am still trying to crack the code of my own acne.
12I said yes to the tan thing because it does initially clear you up but your skin makes up for the deleted oil production shortly after that. I figured this was a tricky way to ask the question because of the temporal issue.
13Darn, I thought I knew a lot about it, but I scored low.
14I don't buy the dairy product answer -- few if any of the hormones in question aren't broken down in the GI tract before they can have an effect. And EVERYTHING we eat has iodine, hello, iodized salt. There's just no evidence that dairy causes acne.
15I've had acne for a long time. I went to a dermatologist for about a year, until it became obvious he was more concerned about making sure my skin was perfectly clear than about my overall health (recommended Accutane to someone with liver issues and a birth control pill not recommended for people - like me - with a strong family history of breast cancer). The one thing I'd recommend to people is to make sure you're getting enough vitamins and minerals. All sorts of nutritional deficiencies can cause acne and other skin problems. The most effective thing for me has been making sure to up my intake of fruits and vegetables and to cut down on "empty calorie" foods and refined carbs like cake and white bread.
The other thing I would suggest to people is to look for an underlying condition that might be causing your acne, and also to look at the traditional diet of your ethnic group. For example, Native Americans seem to have more acne on a "modern" North American diet, and I suspect it's because of the refined carbs. Everyone in my extended family who has acne has some other underlying condition that's associated with it. Don't go to a dermatologist and start taking antibiotics or other harsh drugs that can mess up your system for years when it might be your lifestyle or some other condition that's the problem.
The only thing that shocks me is that everybody doesn't have terrible skin with all the garbage in our food and how diets tend to be lower on whole foods than ever.
16P.S. I used to live in Switzerland and ate chocolate nearly everyday. For me it's not remotely related to acne. If it causes you to break out, it's maybe something personal (an allergy that may only have acne as it's visible symptom) or related to the conditions under which you normally eat it (i.e. stress).
17Dairy is the worst for me....it really breaks me out, I only do soy now! I can't really tell the difference about the refined carbs, but I do think diet is related to acne. I have been battling acne for so incredibly long, I really hate it.
18100%
195/6. I always have those few pimples, it doesnt matter how much water I drink, what foods I eat etc. I always just have 1 or 2.
20I had no idea about the milk!
21The trick is to never touch your face. If you have to wipe something off or scratch, wash your hands first.
5/6 - The sun always makes my skin look really good, so I think that was a trick question
22I did pretty good but that doesn't make my face any clearer.
23i had no idea about the carbs..ive been eating pasta and bread all my life..im gonna try and cut back from now on!
246/6...I'm so proud.
25I sucked! But I havn´t visited this site before, so that is my excuse
26If I ever had a reason to cut down on carbs...
27"Eating chocolate and french fries causes breakouts."
This is actually true, I have even test the so called myth.
28I'd drink soy milk if it wasn't so expensive here (it costs almost twice as much as the regular nonfat milk I buy).
29Oh, and missed the question about getting a tan...I thought a little bit of sunbath helped to avoid acne.
30*helped avoiding.
31Let me begin by saying that this is NOT a "glowing review" as one person put it of the Made from Earth Rosehip Face Serum. I can honestly say that this is the one moisturizer I have found that doesn't feel like I have slicked body lotion on my face. All other moisturizers feel heavy and if I sweat, let's say in the summertime, they start to melt and make me even more uncomfortable. This is not the case with the Made from Earth Rosehip & Hibiscus Face Serum!!! I love this thing and i went from rarely ever using moisturizer (b/c i couldn't find a good one) to using it every day. It smells great with no fragrence, but I think the hibiscus gives it a light aroma. . .it's kinda soft and flowery. I highly recommend this moisturizer. . .you can find it at www.madefromearth.com. . .its cheaper online (even with shipping) than buying it at the mall or Sephora...I believe Sephora sells it for over $30!
