Craving some comfort food, are you? I grew up on my grandmother's tasty and comforting pot pies. I've passed by Amy's Kitchen pot pies at the store, but yesterday I picked one up and decided to give it a try.

So what'd I think? To find out read more
| Of course, this pot pie didn't compare to the homemade ones my gram makes, but I have to say for a quick meal made with organic vegetables, this was better than alright. On my first bite, my reaction was "yum." The filling was creamy, sweet, and very cheesy. I loved the great variety of veggies — potatoes, carrots, green beans, corn, red peppers, broccoli, shitake mushrooms, and lentils for added fiber and protein. The crust was a little dry and chewy (not flaky like I was expecting), but still good. I was surprised that this pie was really filling even though it looked small.
I didn't like that the fat content was a little too high, and I was expecting there to be more fiber and protein. It was made with all natural ingredients though, so that made me feel good. If I were in need of a quick meal, I'd definitely eat this again. |

Oh my...the real photo is so unappetizing. What is up with the top crust??!?!?! Blech.
1I'm a fan of Amy's stuff...and tho my crust didn't look like that, this potpie is a lunchtime fave...better if I'm at home and have time to pop it in the oven, but it's quite tasty:)
2I'm a huge fan of Amy's pot pies - these used to be my special treat when I was watching what I ate (special because, as fit mentions, the fat content is high). The original vegetable pot pie is really delicious too - it has nice tasty tofu chunks, and they make a non-dairy version that's lower fat. Maybe it's because I'm vegetarian and miss being able to eat chicken pot pies that I like these so much.
316 grams of fat is INSANITY. I would never, ever, ever eat this.
4Might as well just go have a slice of pizza
5Ooh, so colorful on the inside! But I agree that its a bit much fat without more fiber and protein.
6That is a lot of fat for a small amount of food. I had a Kashi meal for lunch today (sweet & sour chicken). It was awesome at only 3 grams fat, 320 calories and 18 grams protein!! I'm ready for my run this afternoon
7mssyd- one you need fat and the fat is from the cheese? I'm guessing. and this is so much better than a slice of pizza, look at all the vegtables!
8I have tried Amy's pockets. They had less fat than the pies and were really tasty. Elissa, thanks for the info about the Kashi meal. I'm going to try it out.
9Go for Amy's Mattar Paneer!! I also really love her spinach and feta cheese burritos... yum!!
10Amy's Black bean vegetable Enchiladas are so good
2 Enchiladas are 180 calories
116 grams of fat & Vegan
They taste really good if you use the oven rather than the microwave.
The photo on the box looks yummy, the reality is disappointing. But I'd probably still try it IF it tasted good.
12Ickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
13I had one just once -- it tasted yummy but made me feel really sick. It was probably just me and the way my body oddly reacts to food sometimes, but I probably won't have one again.
14This is one of the very few Amy's meals I don't like.
15yeah... the real picture isn't appealing at all.
