Whenever I read the benefits of green tea I always think to myself, "Why do I drink anything else?" There are seven wonderful things about green tea that you may or may not have known. Regardless, here are highlights:
- Cut Your Cancer Risk: Several polyphenols — the potent antioxidants green tea's famous for — seem to help keep cancer cells from gaining a foothold in the body, by discouraging their growth and then squelching the creation of new blood vessels that tumors need to thrive.
- Soothe Your Skin: Got a cut, scrape, or bite, and a little leftover green tea? Soak a cotton pad in it.
- Protect Your Skin: In the lab, green tea applied directly to the skin (or consumed) helps block sun-triggered skin cancer, which is why you're seeing green tea in more and more sunscreens and moisturizers.
There are more so read more.
- Steady Your Blood Pressure: People who sip just half a cup a day are almost 50 percent less likely to wind up with hypertension than nondrinkers. Credit goes to the polyphenols again (especially one known as ECGC). They help keep blood vessels from contracting and raising blood pressure.
- Protect Your Memory or Your Mom's: Aging adults who drink at least two cups a day are half as likely to develop cognitive problems as those who drink less. Why? It appears that the tea's big dose of antioxidants fights the free-radical damage to brain nerves seen in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
- Stay Young: About 10 ounces a day, deters your body from absorbing artery-clogging fat and cholesterol.
- Lose Weight: Turns out that green tea speeds up your body's calorie-burning process.

14I've been drinking green tea instead of Diet Pepsi for a few months now and feel a lot better. There's a little tea restaurant near me and I found a mild one that I like as otherwise I've never been a tea drinker. Love all the benefits!!!
15I haven't been drinking it much lately, but I definetly will now!

21I just switched to Green Tea from coffee daily! I did it because of the calories in the sugar and half and hslf I'd use in my coffee. Glad to see there are other benefits!

32Love the green tea - i made a complete switch from coffee to green tea, it's been great! Does anyone know of the benefits of white tea?
33I like the Good Earth brand or Lipton Honey Green Tea, both are really reasonably priced and taste delicious. If you want to spend a little more $ for a higher quality tea, the Mighty Leaf brand has a wonderful tropical green tea too. I go in spurts, I'll drink a couple cups a day and then get bored and switch to something else.
34I actually spritz my face with chilled green tea just because it feels refreshing. It tastes great too, I'll go make a cup.
35I drink a jug of iced green tea everyday. so much better than water.
36I love tea and I always like to drink a cup after lunch or dinner. But lately, after having read about the Ultimate Tea Diet (check it on Amazon) I have quit coffee and try to drink 5-6 cups of tea per day. Apparently you can also cook with it!! Check out this link http://teagarden.com/tea_library.asp
37I drink it everyday! Yay for green tea. I add some red tea and seaweeds(just a tiny bit) to it too, to make it super healthy. I never add sugar, except for some honey to ginger or chai teas. I don't drink coffee, it's a migraine trigger for me, so tea it is! I've bought a couple of metal straws, the ones you get with lattes at fancy cafes, to keep tea stains away from my teeth, and it helps a lot. Also, buy Kusmi tea if you are in New York or Paris; it is pure heaven!
38I've tried several organic brands of green tea, and they all taste a little like dishwater to me. Am I doing something wrong with the bags?

40Keep the water from being boiling hot, it needs to be cooler than that otherwise it will get bitter. You can find instructions if you google it. Also, there are several teas with flavor if it makes it more exciting. Or add mint leaves, lemon or cinnamon.
41ha..i was already having a cup when i came across this post.
42my mom owns a teahouse in NJ and we drink it every day. we drink it in the traditional teapots and the small cups. If I don't drink it for a day, I feel so greasy. Green tea has helped me lose weight and my skin is really clear because of it~
43There are different levels of green tea depending on when the leaves are picked. The best one is called woo-jun. the leaves are picked when they are really small and its really pure. I recommend coffee drinkers to convert to tea. It will change your life~~~
