When my energy level takes a nose dive in the late afternoon, I reach for a snack. Lately, my power-through-the-rest-of-the-day snack is a mozzarella cheese stick, a handful of nuts, and a piece of fruit. Let me say this though, I am getting a little bored with it. So I am curious what you reach for to energize yourself in the midmorning or the long hours between lunch and dinner.

Share your healthy snack idea in the comments section below, because I need some inspiration.

Panache
Just Cavalli
Laura Biagiotti
yogourt
1organic instant oatmeal (i can just make it in my coffee mug at work)
grapes!!! mmmm
this fits in the nut category but I like soy nuts with sea salt
... ill think about this
Banana with peanut butter or apple slices with peanut butter. If I want some crunchy I grab the Japanese inari snack, or a small bowl of cereal.
2APPLES...especially Granny Smith apples. I'm obsessed.
Low fat cottage cheese...mmmm!
Cherry tomatoes and cucumber slices....yummmm!
I also agree with nut butter from the post above me, but usually i'm too lazy to cut up the apple, lol.
3edamame!
and I have a banana usually with a cup of tea and it keeps me full and energized
wow I love bananas.
4edamame! if i'm craving something salty . . . or any fruit to satisfy my sweet tooth.
5Pepitas/pumpkin seeds! These are a great alternative for people with nut allergies as pepitas are very similar nutritionally to nuts, but without the allergic reactions.
Pepitas are really high in magnesium and iron, two minerals that many women tend to be deficient in.
I also
6fiber one bars... the oats and chocolate ones are great (and 35% of your daily fiber)
Also whatever fruit happens to be in season locally (just finished a yummy orange).
7Organic fruit strips (Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, e.g.). Or carrots/celery with cheese curds or walnuts.
8Hi! I'm new... thought I'd put in my 2 cents.
Either...kashi go lean crunch (1/2 c) with yogurt,
banana & a kashi granola bar,
Apple & yogurt, or
Kashi Go lean roll
wow, looks like I need to branch out too! (and, I love kashi!)
9I have Wasabi flavored roasted Edamame in my drawer for when i crave salty. but the wasabe flavor is really strong so i cant eat too many... i guess thats a good thing
10I know this sounds like I'm a grandma but I LOVE prunes. As we all know, they have tons of fiber but they're really, really good.
I also can't get enough yogurt - I got a yogurt maker for Christmas and the homemade stuff is way better then the stuff from the store.
11I love a Mango in the afternoon and salted almonds.
Another favourite: plain yoghurt with fresh fruits! (many tiny pieces of apples, strawberries, grapes, bananas,...)
Other than that: amaranth cereals with fruit and soy milk
12i love my healthy snacks! here's an inventory of what i have in my office drawer/fridge right now:
whole grain wheat thins with the laughing cow light garlic and herb cheese
pineapple chunks
mixed melon fruit salad
luna bars (i have a giant box of the smores variety)
attune yogurt bars (love the wild berry flavor)
simple harvest oatmeal with maple brown sugar, pecans, and flax seed
fage yogurt with honey and walnuts
sultana raisins
radishes with balsamic vinegar
13I like to snack on a mini bag of popcorn, it's filling and takes a while to eat. If i'm really hungry and want more of a mini meal i might have a bowl of cereal with soymilk, or some chicken noodle soup.
14i love my healthy snacks! here are the snack options i have in my office drawer (or office fridge) right now:

15i don't know why this is posting twice (and different versions). might be a sign i need to get back to work!
16I love to have some type of fruit with a mini bag of popcorn or triscuits.
17Also, I used to love bananas with peanut butter but I've been getting horrible stomach aches when I eat bananas...could this be a banana allergy? Is there such a thing?
Grapes, 100 calorie popcorn (sometimes I only need half a bag), veggies dipped in plain yogurt with a splash of lemon in it.
18I loooove having 2 Wasa Crackers with 2Tbsp. of Trader Joe's chipotle Hummus spread on and topped with sliced Grape tomatoes.....absolute heaven!
19I love cucumber slices and cottage cheese. I slice the cucumber and use them as crackers by putting the cottage cheese on top. Sometimes I like to sprinkle a little Maldon sea salt on top as well for some extra flavour.
20I do green apples, raw almonds, dried fruit, mangos (which I buy across the street nicely sliced -- it's so convenient!), bananas, light butter-free popcorn, soy nuts, roasted edamame, V8, Fuze Slenderize (I don't know if the regular kind curbs appetite)..
Now I'm getting hungry.
21I love any kind of fruit! Mangos and apples are what I'm eating most currently. I love popcorn. and dried cranberries! YUM
22Has anybody tried the Frosted Flakes Gold?
23They are made with whole grain and honey instead of sugar, they are filling, good for you, and really yummy!
I am totally hooked lately.
That and i LOVE cucumbers with vinegar.
I brought my magic bullet to work and make a little smoothie with frozen berries (I keep in the work freezer), whey protein powder and either some almond milk or non-fat milk.
24I also love apples, especially on the way to the gym...plus anything soy, lunabars (I think they've been written about on fit before, but I am completely obsessed--especially the pecan pie ones!), and granola. For something salty I like turkey with hummus or mustard, veggies (cherry tomatoes!) with hummus, and tofu--I get the teriyaki kind and just snack off of it.
25Pears are my obsession right now.
Also popcorn.
Wasa crackers with anything.Yummm !
Yogurt
If I'm craving junk (which happens !)
26I'll eat a 100 calorie ice cream sandwich or frozen popsicle.
Granola bars and pretzels. The mozzarella cheese stick sounds really good, though.
27I love frozen grapes, mango, pineapple on warm days. If I'm really craving something sweet 'cause I do love ice cream, I opt for a Whipped Chocolate Mousse yogurt and to make it taste more like the real thing, put it in the freezer for a little bit before eating. It is so YUM!
28I keep a small can of V8 stashed in my drawer. Its the mini-can...5.5 fl oz. Its a full serving of veggies and it really curbs my 3pm cravings!
29Right now I usually snack on mini carrots with hummus, a handful of lightly salted cashews or almonds, or a grapefruit, but when it gets hott outside I LOVE skinny cows !!
30I go for mini rice cakes cheddar flavor
or a 110 cal pria bar
31I love old school "ants on a log" celery with a smear of pb (or any nut butter, i love cashew!) and raisins. To spice it up, I might subsistute dried cherries with Dark chocolate Dreams pb from this company called Peanut Butter & Co. Their flavored pb's are usually lower in calories than other pb's. Their other flavors include white chocolate, spicy, chunky, regular, and cinnamon raisin.
32--Fage yogurt with honey and kashi granola
33--Laughing Cow light cheese and a handful of low-salt pistachios or almonds
--whole wheat waffle w/ natural peanut butter and fresh ground cinnamon
--athenos greek style hummus and homemade pita chips (whole wheat if I've got it, sprayed with EVOO and sprinkled with sea salt)
--POM juice with club soda (great soda substitute)
Smoothies with fresh fruits, add vanilla yogourt and 3.25% of milk.
34*whole wheat pita bread (toasted lightly) with hummus
*cucumber slices - I use them as a substitute for chips and I dip them in anything from balsalmic vinegar to cream cheese.
35OH and apple slices with cinnamon.
36Apple slices with peanut butter, Kashi golean crunch bars in chocolate peanut (mmmmmmm), and the 90-cal Lipton "cup-a-soup" in tomato soup. Also, string cheese, pita and artichoke/kalamata hummus, half a sandwich (I just use one piece of bread and fold it over)...I could go on and on
37Half a cup of Kashi Go Lean Crunch mixed with half a cup of plain yogurt. Delicious.

-carrots or cucumbers with hummus
cascadian farms honey and oat granola, strawberry light & fit yogurt, with sliced banana :] my favorite right now!
48These are DELISH!

In a pot heat and mix the following..

*Add dry to wet, mix well and press FIRMLY into baking pan... lined with parchment paper, let cool and cut into squares..
49i make a batch at beginning of the week.. excellent snack!
I cut an apple into chunks and put some cinnamon on it and toss it in the microwave to soften it. Then I put it on top of a rice cake with some fat free ricotta cheese.
My other current go-to is a Kashi Go Lean shake.
