Heidi Klum's Post Baby Body

Heidi Klum hit the Victoria's Secret runway 8 weeks after she gave birth. How did she do that? Here's some more details on how Heidi did it.

David Kirsch's The Ultimate New York Diet was the answer.

Phase 1: The 1st 2 weeks Heidi avoided all foods that cause bloating. That means no dairy and no fruit and more energy.

Phase 2: Eat really healthy carbs like lentils and beef. Heidi's favorite was tuna, quinoa, and tomatoes.

Phase 3: Load up on lean proteins such as lean meats, a lentil loaf, or a bowl of eggs (Yum?).

Some extra tips: Down a protein shake when you need a quick snack - just a little water, a packet of protein and a hand blender and you're all set. Add whey protein, fiber, and flax seed to get the fiber fruit would give you without all the sugar.

Keep a bowl of hard-boiled eggs on hand - pop one every time you feel hungry.

Exercise while you diet (duh). David says to get off the treadmill and get on the rowing machine - "it's a bigger bang for your buck."

Eat 5 meals a day, "every 3 hours... Eat from 7 am to 7 pm. Outside of that is the red zone," David says.

Some rules: No alcohol, no bread, no starchy carbs.

David says, "Here's the reality, the New York way, you have 5 minutes to grab a meal, all you need to do is pop a really good protein shake." Sounds really satisfying.

Well there you have it. Now I didn't say this "diet" was fun or healthy, and it's definitely NOT something that should be done long-term. It's sad what celebrities have to do to their bodies.

That sounds good for someone who is paid for their body, but in reality that doesn't sound too good. Nope, not at all, kinda scary actually.

I feel like there are twelve different "Post-Pregnancy Heidi Diet"s out there, and each one sounds more unrealistic than the last. After having a baby, wouldn't you rather be with your family and take a break from work? Because work is exactly what that kind of crash dieting is! It sounds like she was in runway boot camp or something. Not fun.

I know snickerdoodle - it's sad. Some people are more interested in work than in their families. But when you're that famous (and gorgeous), I guess you've gotta do whatcha gotta do.

Wasn't Victoria's Secret going to sue her if she didn't make that appearance? She was contracted to be there and had to...I am impressed, if not a bit scared, at how well she managed to bounce back post-baby!!

    She's gorgeous!

She looks amazing, but her diet sounds bland. I may try it though just for fun.

The diet sounds really boring. But I like the idea of rowing instead of a treadmill.

I personnally think Heidi Klum is a great inspiration. She has a healthy attitude towards her body and makes sensible choices.
David Kirsch is a very very good personal trainer. I would love to hire him! In the meanwhile I am using his books and DVDs and they are really really good. You get a hard workout with him! His books are also really good. For example The Ultimate New York Body Plan is full of examples of REAL people (with before and after picture) who achieves tremendous results with his diet and exercise regime. It's true it is hard work and discipline and this plan is not for the faint of heart but you get results fast if you are committed.
If you want a lighter version try his Sound Mind Sound Body regime, it is a 6 weeks program which is more doable if you feel The 2 weeks Ultimate NY body plan is too extreme.
His books totally cahnged my everyday diet. Before I was eating too many carbs, I was not eating sugary foods and white bread but only healthy wholegrain carbs. Still it was far too many carbs. This is a very common mistake among vegetarians like me. I have considerably diminished the amount of carbs in my food and increased the amount of protein and just that shift without any change in my exercise regime made me shed one pound already the first week! Since then my body is just getting leaner and leaner and I feel I have much more energy. I realise now that the big portions of carbs I was eating were really making me tired and heavy. Go David!
