Even if you have had your flu shot this year, you need to remain vigilant. This year's flu vaccine is not matched for two of the three strains knocking people down this flu season. Public health officials are also stating that the season has not yet peaked. Yikes!
Your best line of defense is to wash your hands often, especially after being in a public place or if you are taking care of someone with the flu. These strains seems like real doozies and are laying people up with fever around 102ºF for several days. If you do get sick remember that you don't need to starve your fever.

ugggg I totally missed mine this year...first year I haven't had one in about 18 years...
1That explains why I keep getting so sick!
I hope I don't catch anything!
2I've never really gotten flu shots and I've never really gotten it but this year it knocked me on my butt. It hit me last Thursday and I had 102 degree fever for two days with a sore throat, coughing, aches and everything else that is still lingering. Luckily the doctor prescribed Tamiflu which helps to shorten it otherwise I feel like I'd still be in bed and not posting this during my civil procedure class! It's been going around my law school like crazy.
3My doctor told me that the most effective way of preventing germ contagion was to avoid touching your face (nose, mouth, ears, eyes) during the day since it's the best way to catch an errant virus. You can wash your hands a hundred times a day, but if the person ahead of you opening the door leaves a trace on whatever you touch, and you then stick your fingers in your mouth or something, you're done for.
4I got my flu shot in October and still ended up with a nasty flu in December that turned into pnemonia!! I must have caught that third strain of flu that my shot didnt cover. It figures. lol.
5I haven't had a flu shot in like, 5 years. I also haven't gotten the flu since 2000. I credit my immune system strength to regular workouts and a diet high in antioxidants. Plus, I wash my hands frequently and I don't use a ton of antibacterial stuff around my house.
6Having the flu was one of the worst experiences of my life...I was sick for over a month with it in 2001. I hope I never get it again.
7i used to get the flu every other year since i was 5 years old til my freshman year in high school. it never lasted more than 2 days and my temp never went above 101. haven't gotten it since, which i credit to healthy eating and exercise and a better immune system. my one roommate that eats junk food and NEVER works out goes to the school doctors constantly because she is always sick. i wonder why? lol
