I think we all have a touch of hypochondria in us. Who out there hasn't thought they had cancer or some other life-threatening disease? Some of us silently stew about our supposed and imagined illnesses, while others talk of their assumed diseases often and vociferously.
So I am alone in thinking I have some disease every time I have a weird ache accompanied by twinges of nerve pain? What about you, do the sniffles translate to "bird flu" in your head.

Please share your hypochondriac thoughts. What diseases do you often think you have? Have you ever been right in self diagnosing when others thought you were being neurotic? Tell me all about it in the comments section below.

hahaha that is so me. im always on webmd to see if my symptoms have some disease.
recently i had a pain in my back and chest and i almost thought i was having a heart attack. although that's very uncommon at my age
1when i was younger i used to think that i had every disease under the sun but as i've gotten older i've realized that it's usually just in my head
2I always think I have a brain tumor or that my husband has lupus. I hate that my mind always jumps to these conclusions.
3The only time I've ever self-diagnosed correctly was when I decided, based on the raging fevers and chills and horrible back pain, that I had a horrific kidney infection. My doctor agreed. Other than that, WebMD and I have never come to the right conclusion, though we keep on trying
4yoyan - I did the exact same thing. I had this back pain and was totally convinced that I might be having a heart attack. I'm definitely a hypochondriac, but I'm getting much better.
5When I was twelve, I became convinced that I was pregnant, despite the fact that it was completely impossible. I worried about it quietly for weeks -- how am I going to tell my parents? Will anyone believe that I've never had sex? So now when I start to worry (and I do, a lot) I try to remember how silly I was then.
6Definitely. I think it is more prominent now, as I live alone and don't have anyone else taking my mind of the smallest sniffles the way I did when I lived with my parents. On the other hand, back then, they would also call the doctor if I was really sick… and now it is kind of *what if I'm sick, who'll be calling the doctor? I'm gonna have to check the internet...*
It always kinda blooms during the month where they put awareness on breast cancer, or I hear about people having other kinds of cancer…
7No, I'm not a hypochondriac at all.
8I am a reverse hypochondriac. When something is wrong I refuse to acknowledge that something might need medical attention. I'm like a guy that way.
9My mom has always worked in the medical field and use to be an EMT. I was never a hypochondriac purely due to this. I know my body and when it is sick and when it is not. I also know when I need medicine and when I do not. I can tell you all the times that I have been on antibiotics in my entire life
BTW no offense to anyone but doctors find people who bring the webMD lists of diagnosis to their appointments annoying because they stop listening to what the doctor knows and is trying to tell them for stuff they found on the internet. Its one thing to educate yourself about your symptoms but please don't self-diagnosis
10I am so paranoid. So completely paranoid. Any little thing [which could be as simple as gas] makes me think that death is imminent...
11Yeah, I'm definitely a hypochondriac. I always think I have heart disease or a brain tumor even though I don't really have any symptoms.
12Do not WebMD yourself...
13I used to work in a preschool and was always worried I had lice (we all were!). The teachers checked each others' heads all the time. Good thing I got out of that job. Geez - now my head is itchy!
14I'm definitely a hypochondriac...always have been and probably always will be.
15OMG Yes. I suffer from horrible migraines, and every time I get one, even though I KNOW deep down that it's just another migraine, I still have that little niggling thought "Is it a brain tumor CAUSING the migraines?" Heck, if it was I'd have been dead long ago, as I've been having migraines since I was 2! LOL
16When i was younger every time that i heard someone die from something , immediately i had that same symptomes and i started to cry to mom / dad that i'm going to die .
17now i'm a bit older, i know that it was all in my head, and i'm perfectly healthy.
yes! i am convinced i have the bird flu right now because i touched bird poop the other day and now i am sick! haha. over reacting? probably.
18i guess i am a bit, but i just try to list everything that is possible, then see if i have the sympthoms (which i usually don't), and if i do - i go and take a test or something at the doctor's.
my family from dad's side is very hypochondriac and my mom always makes fun of me when i ask her is it flu or meningitis or something like that
19I'm a reverse hypochondriac too. I never go to the doctor unless I'm in for a physical. I haven't been legitimately sick in about 6 years either, so I guess I'm just really healthy. When I get symptoms like headaches or body pains, I just figure they'll go away at some point.
20I'm a bad self-diagnoser, personally. I'm not a huge hypochondriac, like I don't think I have EVERYTHING, but if I read an article about say, thyroid disease, in my head I go "OMG! I have those symptoms! What do I do? What do I DO???" and then I go to my doctor and she looks at me strangely, but always indulges me and does a test, if nothing else - probably because I've been right a few times!
21I always get chest pains and i think i have heart problems but im scared to go to the doctor incase it is something with my heart
