Recently user BriaAdele provided a great little tip that I wanted to be sure you all saw:
Every time I go to the bathroom at work, I do 10 squats. It's a good way to get some blood flowing, and it's one less exercise to squeeze into my lunch-break gym session!
Brilliant — why didn't I think of this? I'm definitely doing this. Now if you'll excuse me . . .

Yes! Great idea! I will have to try
1I don't know -- I always feel like public bathrooms are gross and try to spend as little time in there as possible.
2The work bathroom? Eh, no thanks, I like to get in and get out of there as quickly as I can...
3that's pretty fun. I'm not sure if I'll use this or not!
4I meant funny... not fun
5Honestly? There's practical tips and then there's obsessive. A lot of your tips concern me, sometimes. Granted, I have been around too much ED stuff but there's a fine line...
6I don't need to do this thanks. I mean why not suggest doing 'em when you're in the shower while you're at it.
7I said almost the same thing like 2 days ago on a post in here.
I do squats in the bathroom(and wall push-ups too!!)....lunges walking through the warehouse and i go up and down the stairs a few times too for good measure. Its just so cold in our office and this is a great way to warm up and get some exercise at te same time!
The rest of you have problems with this?????? hmmmph.
8Another thing...
I have kids at home, so when i get home from a long day at work and get busy doing things for them, i dont always have the time or the energy for the gym. So i have to do these little things(as i mentioned above) to help me squeeze a little bit more out of my day and stay healthy. There just isnt enough time otherwise.
I think they are great tips...
9I think this is a good idea.
I work for a small video game company, so that means that women are definitely the minority. The ladies room stays pretty clean. My work bathroom is probably cleaner than my own bathroom. I mean, I don't disenfect my toilet every night.
Of course I don't know if I will remember to do this every time I use the bathroom, but that is a different story...
10Sounds like an excellent way to split your pants at work. Sewing kit anyone?
11I'm with getting out of public bathrooms asap (nurse germaphobe) but do this at home. I make a game of it, waiting for a microwaved drink, usually 2 minutes. I do those Turbo Jam moves for my waist and also squat and stretches. It warms me up and energizes me but I'm sure I look like a loon so keep my kitchen blind almost closed!
12I think that's sort of weird, doing squats in the bathroom. Why not just do them in your office? Or take a break and do some stretching. I'm lucky...producing for Fitness Anywhere, Inc. I can get a workout anytime, and I'm starting to seize a hold of that concept instead of sitting down, working for 14 hours straight! It's nice to be with companies that support fitness as a community!
13I'd rather just go up and down the stairs. Bathrooms are disguisting.
14I thought of doing this because I have a teeny bladder and am in there about 20 times a day, but the stalls here at work have an automatic flush that goes off if you even move an inch. Can't have it going off 10 times in a row!
15I don't do squats in the bathroom, but every time I go to a public restroom and have to hover, I am always thankful that I do squats so that those muscles are ready when I need them!
16I work in a very small office with only 7 people, and the restroom is big and clean. Plus, my office is casual so I am not dressed up or wearing heels most days. If i were crammed into a dirty stall wearing a dress, I wouldn't be doing squats either!
17I do squats while I'm waiting for my lunch to heat up in the microwave. I usually have a good 2 or 3 minutes to fit about 20 squats in. I don't think I'd do them in the bathroom, though. People might wonder why I was in the stall for a long time or something.
18That's funny, but a good idea! Our bathroom at work is VERY clean- I mean they clean it every day, and there are only about 7-10 of us using 4 stalls!
19Yeah...i work for a small business with about 12 employees...so our bathroom is pretty clean and decent sized. I dont squat over the toilet...i stand in front of the mirror and sink and do it. Doing it over the toilet just seems gross...lol. Thats a different type of squat!
In front of the microwave i do leg raises...the kind where you raise it behind you and squeeze the butt muscles tight. That works great too! There are all sorts of adaptations
to the bathroom squats.
Just be creative. Sorry for you lot that have stalls and
dirty bathrooms....that sucks!
20I also do squats while I blow dry my hair =)
21I'm with spectra- I'd be worried people would wonder what the heck was taking so long.
But I see nothing wrong with the concept- I do squats in the shower. It's a quick way to get in a dreaded excercise.
22I do them in the elevator. I take it up and down between offices so many times, it's worth it. And it shaves an exercise off my work out that night. It's not obsessive, it's just good planning
23I do 100 squats a day in groups of 20 - whenever I'm in the bathroom alone - I use the handicapped stall and it's quiet there. Obviously it's dress casual - and don't wear pants I would ever think would split!
