I have a few pairs of jeans that I keep around that are labeled my "fat pants." I don't really know why I feel the need to hold on to them, but a big part of it is to see my progress so far. I know I am not alone here, so what about you guys...

I'm not sure if they're considered "fat pants". You tell me.
When I first lost a lot of weight I wanted to go back to wearing 501s - so I went to the Levis store and bought a pair. They were tight then but I crammed my bum in.
Well 100 pounds later and only one year later I still have those pristine 501s. They are at the perfect wash now. Of course they're huge and baggy but some days I feel all slackergirl so I pull them out and wear them. There probably 6 to 8 waist sizes to big but I wear a belt but the legs are like carpenter pants now.
But the wash is perfect! They're all Alex P Keatonesque and perfect except too darn big.
Are they fat pants?
1Oh yeah, I have those. Haven't had to wear them in a while though, which pleases me.
2No, I don't have any. I haven't changed that much (height and weight wise) for years, probably since when I was 14. I know it might sound crazy, but I still have some shirts from when I was 8 or 9 and they still fit me. But well, I'm a very, very small girl.
3I do...ha.
4I think I always thought I would gain weight (as a young, growing girl), so I have a few pairs of pants that are a little too big for me. I figured I'd rather have pants that are a little loose in the waist than uncomfortably tight. I hate them, but still keep them around. I only wear them if my good jeans are in the laundry (and I don't have to go out anywhere).
5When I feel fat I wear one of the many wrap dresses I have in my arsenal. To me, pants seem like an odd choice for when you're feeling fat!
6I have "thin" clothing? =)
7I'm wearing my fat pants now since I'm still trying to lose my baby weight. They are good to hang on to for times like this, I guess, even though it depresses me a bit.
8When I was a LOT heavier I was in a 24. Sad, especially given I'm only 5'2". Anyhow, for a while I kept one pair of those 24's just as a reminder of what I never wanted to be again. When we moved a few years ago I started gaining again and got freaked that keeping the pants almost made it easier because hey, I'd still have something to wear. So, I tossed them. Now that I'm on a good loosing track I kind of wish that I had kept them to look back on and see how far I really came. What I notice as I am getting smaller though is that although I haven't tossed any of my subsequent larger sizes I really feel great in what fits. It keeps me motivated to keep loosing. In fact, I was JUST about to head to the store to hopefully buy a smaller pair of jeans now!
9I have one pair that's a little too baggy on me now, but way too comfortable to give up. They're my slacker pants, but I don't know if I'd call them fat pants since they're only a size or so too big.
10I most definitely have fat pants ~ although they're smaller than they used to be. When I first starting losing weight, I was a size 24/26, and now am a size 10/12. My fat pants are size 16. I don't know why I hold on to them, but some days I just feel icky and instead of wearing the pants that fit, I reach for the fat pants. Not sure why.
11I have a pair of size 26 Joes Jeans that I bought last year in Austin... they fit me perfectly when I bought them for a pretty penny. Now that I live in Manhattan, and I'm back to working out every day and eating healthy (NO more Tex Mex lol), the jeans are huge on me. Even with a belt, I feel like a little kid wearing her parent's jeans. They're so comfy, and it makes me feel good to know that I've toned up.... even if my booty isn't as luscious anymore.
12I tossed out all of my fat pants (and clothes) last year. I was holding on to them, just in case I gained some of the weight back. Getting rid of them was the smartest thing I could have done. Now, I only put my eye toward the clothing I kept that I can't quite fit into, in addition to the clothes that currently fit. Every time I go down a size, I buy a few new pair of jeans & get rid of the previous ones. Going shopping for a smaller size is kind of like a reward for my losing the pounds.
13All my pants are fat pants! But I'm working on that!
14Nope. All my clothes fit perfectly.
15All of my pants were "fat pants"...
I lost about 50 lbs, and went from having 16s that I had to use twine to keep up, to wearing 13s that I used to wear while I was in the middle of gaining that 50 lbs. Now those are too big, so they are getting tossed in the donate pile.
I have two other pairs of pants that are a size or two too big, perhaps I will take them to a tailor and have them brought in, or maybe I will just keep them as "fat pants".
I didn't keep them as a "just in case", but I kept them more because I hate shopping for pants because it seems the industry hates my figure.
16UPDATE - well I guess the pants I wore yesterday will now be my 'fat' pants. I just got back from getting new jeans and to my great surprise I went down TWO sizes, not one. Yeah! I agree with PJ - I really do need to purge the bigger ones so I can't fall back on them. As she said also, buying the new jeans was my reward for my hard work.
17No. I weigh the same as when I was 16!
18No.
Get rid of them!!!! You'll feel better. Why would you want that constant reminder of how you were when you weren't so well with yourself? Don't hang on to that. Look ahead!
19I bought a pair of maternity sevens when I was pregnant. I am saving them for the next pregnancy, but find myself slipping back into them on those days where I need some extra room in my pants.
20I do have fat pants! I like wearing them every once in awhile to see my progress.
21I threw mine out after I lost some weight. I figured that keeping them would be like saying it's ok if I gain the weight back because I will have something to wear.
22I almost threw away a few pairs of fat pants, but kept them, and now they fit me again. Now I have skinny pants that I use to see how close I am to getting back in shape. I tend to have a few sizes (4-8 usually) because my weight swings back and forth a bit each year.
If ccsugar is right, maybe I should have thrown them out after all.
23I just got done giving a ton of clothes away to the goodwill. A lot of those were from middle school (I'm 19 now) and it felt good to get rid of them. I weighed more when I was 12 than I do now, which is crazy! But no, no fat pants.
24i'm at my fattest now
so no suck thing exist for me.
25I used to wear a size 18 and as I lost weight, I gradually replaced all my pants with ones that fit and kept giving the bigger ones away to Goodwill. Even though all my pants now are the right size, I did keep one pair of size 18s so I remember what size I USED to be and how I never want to go back there again. I can actually fit my whole self into one leg of them now!
26I just moved, and while I packed I took out all of my clothes that no longer fit me. In the past year I've dropped about 50 pounds and I still had those "fat" clothes. I grabbed all of them and donated them to Salvation Army. That way, I can't feel like I can backslide and just start wearing my old clothes again. I use my tight and sexy pair of jeans as a status update on my weight, I'll put them on and instantly know if I'm gaining or losing weight. It's a challenge to not have that safety net of fat clothes, you're more on your toes about staying your preferred weight.
27just like fluffyhelen...I too have "thin" pants...i've fit into them once, but when i work out i put on muscle so i cant get my thighs and butt into them! Ha! I guess I should just get rid of them.
28i have a pair of skinny jeans. i went up a size over the summer no big deal except that the pair from when i was a size smaller were my favorite pair. they're my goal. to get in them from time to time because i love them so
29About 6 months ago I went through a VERY bad breakup, and about 2 months ago I was admitted to the hospital for about 30 days due to a really bad car accident. So, due to those two things, I haven't really been watching what I eat, and I haven't been able to go to the gym (Dr.'s orders), so, in the past 6 months I've managed to gain 15 pounds. So now my fat pants are the only ones that fit!
But I just got cleared on Friday to start working out (slowly) again by my doctor. So hopefully in another 6 months, my clothes will fit again!
30This is a funny poll lol ... actually no and since I was once all the way up to a size 22 I should have a few.. but I through them all out. Someone told me once if you keep them and know you have looser clothes you dont worry about over eating lol stupid right.. but if my jeans now get to tight I LOSE WEIGHT .. not go into the closet to get my fatties.
31I lost about 40 pounds and threw out all of my old pants. I now wish that I'd kept a pair just to remind myself on low-self-esteem days that I AM much healthier now
32hell yes! 13mths and 105lbs down - 25 to go so hoping to hit goal this summer.
I still have the exact outfit from one of the early 'before' pictures... heh I can get both legs in one leg of my jeans now
33i hate hate hate tight pants so all of my jeans etc fit a little loose.
34on days when i feel blah though: sweats all the way, baby!
All my pants are fat pants. I have been the same weight since high school.
35I look forward to real, honest-to-god fat pants.
My pants fit about the same but I only own a few pair. I am more of a skirt girl.
36I have them. But, I just bought a pair of True Religion Jeans and now I am soooooo afraid one day they won't fit and I paid so much for them. So now this pair of jeans is stressing me out so much!!!!
37my weight fluctuates depending on my life so yeah
38I have never had fat pants.
39I try to make sure I'll never need any
40I have one pair of jeans, which are Arizona brand size 9, I fold them down so they wont fall off of me, they are my "lazy around the house" lounging pants. i usually wear a 5-6. I got rid of all my "fat" jeans. the biggest i ever wore was a 12. long gone.
41No...my weight doesnt fluctuate too much...so i basically have pants that fit and then a i have 1 or 2 pairs that are a bit of a tighter fit. So i guess that means i have "skinny jeans" and not fat pants. lol... I dont want to encourage myself to get fatter by keeping clothes around to accomodate it. Not a good idea. If i feel a bit of heaviness coming on...i do something about it and hit the gym a bit harder.
42I have all my fat pants. At my biggest I was a size 16. Now Im a 10 and plan on staying this way if not getting smaller. I was told by one of my very good friends that I should save all my fat clothes for maternity clothes instead of buying maternity clothes use what I have until well.....I cant.
43Keeping the fat pants also reminds me of who and what I was when I wore them and that I never want to go there again!
Nope, I throw out all my now-too-big clothes so I will be motivated to never allow myself to get back there but need to fit into my smaller clothes instead.
44When I lost a bunch of weight, I donated all my fat pants except for one pair--the smallest I had at the time. They fit normally except when I had my period; I couldn't wear them then. I only saved them to remind myself of how much progress I've made since then. Sometimes when I'm feeling stuck or like I've hit a plateau, I put them on. And when I realize that I can pull them down without having to unzip and unbutton them, it motivates me to get out there and work out harder and bust through the plateau. Works every time!
